In 2011, musician and producer Nikolai Grigorian formed the “Classic Girls” string quartet. They are one of the most vivid and distinctive groups both in Russia and abroad working in the style of progressive classical music (Classical Crossover). Their performances rank with recognised virtuosi such as the string quartets “Bond” and “Escala”, David Garrett, Vanessa-mae, Edvin Marton, Lindsey Stirling and vocalists Emma Shapplin, Sarah Brightman, Katherine Jenkins, Hayley Westenra and Giorgia. Numerous musicians are now performing classical crossover pieces, including operatic stars such as Andrea Bocelli and Alessandro Safina.
Since the group’s inception, the “Classic Girls” have taken part in many high-profile events, including the celebrations for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, both of which took place at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Moscow.
They have participated in the concert programme for the Russian and World Sambo Championships and many other events.
The “Classic Girls” string quartet has a unique musical style, which places them in a class of their own. Their repertoire is based on arrangements written specially for them by their producer Nikolai Grigorian and member of the Russian Union of Composers, Natalia Maslova.
